18th Century Reclaimed Oak Floorboards

Drummonds’/Kirkpatricks’ 18th Century reclaimed Oak floorboards are prepared in our workshops  ready for laying – typically requiring  de-nailing, kilned drying to allow the wood to stabilise. Then they are parallel edged to widths that enable us to reuse as much of the floorboard as possible, this gives batches of random width boards. Finally before supplying, the face of the floorboard is lightly sanded  keeping the age and character of the reclaimed floorboard.

Drummonds’/Kirkpatricks’ 18th Century reclaimed Oak floorboards are hand-selected on arrival, being divided into two grades; more and less distressed, this reflects the end use of the floorboards whereby a country home will embrace more character in the wood with a town house requiring a cleaner, elegant floorboards to compliment the furnishings and décor.

Country Oak Floorboards – Our distressed reclaimed Oak floorboards are selected with detail such as splits, shakes and knots to give more character and a rustic quality and charm. When installed and finished the floorboards have undulations and unevenness that is unique to this floor.

Palace Oak Floorboards – With less distressed detail, the Palace Oak reclaimed floorboards are selected being of a higher, premium quality resulting in a more elegant, formal floor. Floors are smoother and more even across the room that makes them ideal for formal rooms.
